Building Our Farm, Our Family, Our Future

The last few days have been very special for all of us here at God in Action.

We have had the great pleasure of welcoming our friends Pete Cohen and Daniel Hursell to Uganda and spending time together with our children, our team and our wider community.

Pete has been part of our journey for many years, supporting and believing in the work we are doing here. Daniel, through Empower Global Network, is now also helping us move towards the next important stage of our vision.

But this visit wasn't just about meetings and plans.

It was about being together.

Pete and Daniel spent time with the children, playing games, laughing, talking and seeing for themselves both the challenges our children face and the incredible spirit, energy and potential they have.

For the children, having people travel such a long way to spend time with them means so much. It reminds them that there are people beyond our community who see them, care about them and believe in their future.

Our Farm. Our Family. Our Future.

A big part of our time together has been looking at the next stage of what we call Our Farm, Our Family, Our Future.

Over the years, our dream has grown.

We don't simply want to provide food or respond to today's needs. We want to build something sustainable that can create opportunities for our children and our community for many years to come.

Our farm is an important part of that future.

Through agriculture, education and enterprise, we want the farm to become a place where we can grow food, generate income, teach practical skills and create opportunities for the children as they grow older.

But there is another urgent part of this vision.

Our children need a permanent place to call home.

At the moment, many of the 101 children we support are living in rented and overcrowded accommodation. Some of the children have to share beds.

We want to change this.

The next major stage of our journey is to build permanent structures where the children can live safely and with dignity.

We have spent significant time during Pete and Daniel's visit discussing what these buildings could look like, what will be needed and how we can create something that is not simply accommodation, but a real home and community for the children.

This is not about outsiders coming to Uganda and telling us what our future should look like.

It is about partnership.

Our team here understands our children, our community and the challenges we face. Pete, Daniel and the people supporting us can bring relationships, resources, ideas and encouragement that can help us turn our vision into reality.

Together, we can do more than any of us could do alone.

The Next Chapter

We are incredibly grateful for everything that has already been achieved and for everyone who has supported us.

But we also know this is only the beginning.

The next chapter is about creating permanent homes, expanding our farm, developing sustainable enterprises, supporting education and giving these 101 children the foundations from which they can build their own futures.

We don't want our children simply to survive.

We want them to have the opportunity to thrive.

On behalf of God in Action, our team and especially our children, I want to thank Pete and Daniel for coming to Uganda, for listening, for spending time with us and for believing in what we are building.

And to everyone around the world who has supported us, donated, shared our story or simply encouraged us — thank you.

There is much work ahead.

But we believe deeply in what is possible.
